Another Great Weekend for the DSC crew

September 28th, 2010

The DSC crew continues to march on and tally up more victories along the way.  Brett Simpson started the weekend off by winning his first round heat against Adriano and Chris Davidson at the Quiksilver pro France.  This success was just a sign of how the weekend would go for the DSC crew.

In the NSSA open at Oceanside, Griffin Colapinto continued his reign of terror by making two finals.  The Open Jr. and Open boys divisions, placing 3rd and 2nd respectively.  At the WSA Breyden Taylor made his first appearance to that series and stomped his way to a U18 victory!

In Newport Beach, the Quiksilver team challenge had to give 3k to former DSC sticker rider, Quinn McCrystal, and DSC super grom Colin Moran, as they won the team comp.

The weekend culminated with 15 year old DSC stickered rider phenom Trevor Thornton taking the Open Men’s division win at the NSSA open which lead to him being named NSSA surfer of the week.

Congrats to all of the boys and thanks for keeping DSC dominant each week!

Griffin Deals out Grief

September 16th, 2010

In the past two NSSA events Griffin Colapinto has put everyone on official notice.  It reads “I’m not here to play!!!”  At the HB 9th street southwest explorer Griff walked through competition to bring home the win.  He followed that up with another impressive win at the recent NSSA southwest open at the pier.  With two wins under his belt he appears to be in good form at the start of a long year.  Don’t let the dimples fool you.  This kid is a competitive assassin who is starting to like the taste of the kill.

DSC secures its future

September 16th, 2010

DSC opened its doors to a new age group of riders and immediately secured its legacy.  Colt Ward, Griffin Colapinto, Colin Deveze, Nolan Rapoza, Daniel Tieman, Corey Colapinto, Jeremy Guilmette, Kirk Weissinger, and Dylan Aragon, lead the way for DSC to continue to own the surf training world in the future.  Veteran team riders like Brett Simpson, and Nate Yeomans gotta start looking over their shoulder as these young upstarts aren’t far behind!

Courtney Conlogue takes revenge

August 30th, 2010

Courtney Conlogue squared off against Laura Enever in another final making it two final appearances in a row for both of these warriors.  This day the well deserved victory went to Courtney.  On the road to the final Courtney put every competitor on blast by consistently dropping scores in the seven, eight, and nine range.  In her quarter final her heat total was an astounding 19.10!  This victory moves Courtney Conlogue up the womens world tour ranking to the 3rd spot.  Court has a CT birth firmly locked in her sights.  Congrats Courtney, now get home so we can all celebrate DSC style.

DSC riders fared well at the Volcom in HB on Aug. 21st.  Ian Crane brought home the cash in the Jr’s division and Taylor Clark went the distance in the Grom divsion.  Overall, 8 of the 14 finalists in the combined Jr. and grom divisions were DSC athletes!  Great work, way to represent.  Thanks again to Volcom for a fun day at the beach.

Character Counts!

August 12th, 2010

When talking about professional sports or high level competition one speaks of the competitive mindset, mental strength, physical prowess, or the ability to conquer an opponent.  Rarely does the issue of character come into the equation.  At DSC, we tend to place character at the forefront of the competition discussion.  Who you are off the playing field definitely impacts how you perform on the playing field.  We are proud to have Brett Simpson carry our banner!  Again, congrats “B” on the win!

DSC’s own Brett Simpson does it again!

August 9th, 2010

Brett has done it again!   The US open of surfing circus came to Huntington Beach, and Brett “zoned” the craziness out to march through to victory.  Along the way Brett was able to defeat the perennial wonder-kid Dane Reynolds, 2008 Open Champion Nathaniel Curran, 9x ASP world champ Kelley Slater, and the current ASP #1 ranked surfer Jordy Smith.
